The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 is a versatile high-end digital source designed to serve as the central hub of a modern two-channel audio system. Combining a high-performance music streamer, reference-quality DAC and fully balanced analog preamplifier in a single chassis, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 provides an impressive combination of performance, connectivity and flexibility.

At the heart of the DMP-A8 Gen 2 is a flagship AKM AK4191EQ + AK4499EXEQ DAC architecture, with the AK4191EQ handling digital processing and the AK4499EXEQ dedicated to D/A conversion. Eversolo’s AuralEngine audio processing, high-performance analog circuitry and precision R-2R volume control are designed to preserve detail, dynamics and musicality throughout the signal path.

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports high-resolution playback up to DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit, while Eversolo’s proprietary EOS Audio Engine provides a bit-perfect signal path that bypasses Android’s standard sample-rate conversion.

A Complete Digital Music Hub

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 provides native integration with a wide range of popular streaming services, including TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and more. It also supports Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, DLNA/UPnP and Network Audio Adapter for convenient access to music from a variety of sources.

For locally stored music, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports SMB, NFS and WebDAV, allowing music libraries stored on NAS devices, computers and network storage to be accessed from a single interface.

An integrated M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 slot allows users to add up to an 8TB SSD for local music storage. The SSD is optional and not included.

Flagship AKM DAC Architecture

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 uses a sophisticated dual-chip DAC architecture featuring the AK4191EQ digital processor and AK4499EXEQ DAC. This separates digital processing and D/A conversion into dedicated stages for optimized signal handling.

Combined with AKM’s Velvet Sound technology and Eversolo’s AuralEngine, the design is intended to provide a quiet background, excellent separation and natural reproduction of vocals, instruments and spatial information.

The result is exceptional measured performance, with THD+N of just 0.000075% (-122dB) and SNR/dynamic range exceeding 129dB from the balanced XLR outputs.

Precision R-2R Analog Volume Control

Unlike digital volume attenuation, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 uses a high-precision R-2R resistor-ladder volume control operating in the analog domain.

This allows the DMP-A8 Gen 2 to function directly as a preamplifier while maintaining excellent resolution and dynamics throughout the volume range. The fully balanced preamplifier section features both XLR and RCA analog inputs, with XLR and RCA outputs for connection to power amplifiers or active speakers.

Advanced Room Correction

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 includes evotune™ PRO room correction, allowing the player to analyze the acoustic characteristics of your listening environment and create a customized correction filter.

The system uses DRC-based modelling and FIR filtering to address frequency, timing and spatial information. Measurements can be performed using a compatible USB measurement microphone or a smartphone microphone, with Eversolo recommending a dedicated USB measurement microphone for the best accuracy.

For additional system customization, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 also provides a 20-band parametric equalizer, FIR filter import, loudness control and dynamic range compression.

The dedicated SFP optical network port provides an optically isolated network connection for users looking to minimize electrical interference from their network infrastructure. SFP modules are sold separately.

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 also features an adjustable subwoofer output with crossover control from 40–500Hz, making it easy to integrate a subwoofer into a two-channel system.

HDMI ARC/eARC for High-End TV Audio

With built-in HDMI ARC/eARC, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 can serve as the audio hub for a compatible television or projector.

HDMI ARC/eARC supports stereo PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit, allowing TV audio to benefit from the DMP-A8 Gen 2’s high-performance DAC and analog output stage.

High-Resolution Digital Transport

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 can also function as a high-end digital transport for an external DAC.

Its USB audio output supports up to native DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit, while the configurable 8-mode IIS output provides compatibility with a wide range of external DACs. AES/EBU, optical and coaxial outputs provide additional digital connectivity.

Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 & SFP Networking

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 incorporates dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for improved wireless stability and throughput, along with a Qualcomm QCC3095 Bluetooth audio receiver supporting Bluetooth 5.4.

For wired systems, the Gigabit Ethernet connection provides high-speed network access, while the dedicated SFP port allows optical network connectivity.

Premium Construction & Intuitive Control

The DMP-A8 Gen 2 is housed in an aerospace-grade aluminum chassis measuring 388 × 265 × 88mm. The metal enclosure provides shielding against external interference while giving the unit a substantial, refined appearance.

An 8.6-inch LCD touchscreen provides an intuitive interface for browsing music, adjusting settings and controlling playback. The redesigned interface includes dynamic VU meters, spectrum displays and other visualizations that respond to the music.

The unit can also be controlled through the Eversolo Control app, web interface or included dual-mode Bluetooth/IR remote.
