Precision 3ppb OCXO Clock

Digital timing is a critical part of network audio, and NET3 incorporates a high-precision 3 parts-per-billion (3ppb) OCXO clock.

The oven-controlled crystal oscillator provides an exceptionally stable timing reference for the network circuitry. Innuos gives the OCXO its own dedicated power regulation, helping isolate this sensitive component from other circuitry within the switch.

Twin CX Power Regulation

NET3 features an internal linear power supply incorporating Mundorf capacitors and two independent CX power regulator modules.

One dedicated power rail supplies the precision OCXO clock, while the other powers the WaveNET board. Separating these critical sections helps minimize electrical interaction and keeps the most sensitive circuitry supplied by clean, stable power.

This is one of the key differences between NET3 and the more affordable NET1, which is designed as Innuos’ entry point into dedicated audiophile network switches.

SFP Fibre Connectivity

NET3 incorporates an SFP fibre port, giving users the option of introducing optical isolation into their network.

Because fibre transmits data optically rather than electrically, it can eliminate electrical continuity between network sections. This can be particularly useful when the goal is to isolate the audio system from electrical noise originating elsewhere in the home network.

For systems where fibre is practical, NET3 provides a flexible way to create a cleaner network connection immediately upstream of the audio components.

Built for the STREAM3

The NET3 was designed as the natural network partner for Innuos’ STREAM3 streamer/server.

Its full-width chassis and premium construction are visually and mechanically matched to the STREAM3, allowing the two components to form a cohesive high-performance streaming system. Innuos describes the STREAM series as a modular platform consisting of the STREAM1, STREAM3, NET1, NET3, and LPS1.

NET3 can also be used with other high-end network audio systems where its low-noise architecture and audiophile-oriented network design can provide an upgraded network foundation.

Premium Mechanical Construction

NET3 uses a 10mm CNC-machined aluminum chassis designed to provide a rigid, stable platform for its sensitive electronics.

Mechanical vibration is further addressed through vibration-damping feet and isolation of the internal toroidal transformer. The result is a carefully controlled mechanical environment designed to complement the switch’s electrical and network engineering.
