Accuphase E-600 — Pure Class-A Performance Without Compromise
The Accuphase E-600 represents the pinnacle of Accuphase’s integrated amplifier design from its generation, bringing technology and engineering developed for the company’s flagship separate components into a single, beautifully constructed chassis.
Designed to achieve performance approaching that of separate preamplifier and power amplifier components, the E-6000 combines pure Class-A amplification, Accuphase’s sophisticated AAVA volume control, fully balanced signal transmission, and an exceptionally robust power supply.
The result is an amplifier that delivers the natural liquidity and tonal richness associated with Class-A operation while maintaining remarkable control, resolution, and stability with demanding loudspeakers.
Revolutionary AAVA Volume Control
At the heart of the E-6000’s preamplifier section is Accuphase’s AAVA (Accuphase Analog Vari-gain Amplifier) volume control.
Unlike conventional volume controls that rely on mechanical potentiometers or digital attenuation, AAVA operates entirely in the analog domain. The E-600 incorporates a high-rigidity volume sensor machined from a solid aluminum block and equipped with an exceptionally robust brass shaft, providing both precise control and the smooth, substantial operating feel expected from a premium Accuphase component.
The low-impedance circuit design also contributes to the E-600’s exceptionally low noise performance.
Pure Class-A Power Amplification
The E-600 employs a triple parallel push-pull configuration of power MOS-FETs operating in pure Class A. This sophisticated output stage provides the linearity and smoothness associated with Class-A amplification while maintaining substantial current capability.
The amplifier is rated at:
- 30 W + 30 W into 8 ohms
- 60 W + 60 W into 4 ohms
- 120 W + 120 W into 2 ohms
- 150 W + 150 W into 1 ohm with music signals
Its 500 damping factor provides excellent control over the loudspeaker driver, while the amplifier’s low-impedance design allows it to maintain its composure with demanding speaker loads.
Fully Balanced Signal Architecture
The power amplifier section utilizes an advanced instrumentation amplifier topology, allowing fully balanced signal transmission throughout the amplifier section.
Accuphase combines this architecture with its MCS+ (Multiple Circuit Summing) topology and current feedback amplification principle to achieve excellent electrical characteristics and extremely low distortion.
Massive Power Supply
A high-performance amplifier needs a power supply capable of responding instantly to musical demands. The E-600 therefore incorporates a massive, high-efficiency transformer along with large filtering capacitors.
This robust power supply gives the amplifier the current capability necessary to maintain control and stability even when driving difficult speaker loads.
Exceptional Signal Purity
Accuphase uses logic-controlled relays to maintain short, direct signal paths while minimizing unnecessary circuitry in the audio path.
The E-600 also incorporates MOS-FET switching technology in its output circuitry, eliminating mechanical contact points and contributing to long-term reliability and signal clarity.
More Than an Integrated Amplifier
The E-600 also offers considerable system flexibility. Its POWER IN function allows the preamplifier and power amplifier sections to be used separately, making it possible to integrate the E-600 into more sophisticated systems or use its power amplifier section with an external preamplifier.
The amplifier includes balanced inputs, two sets of speaker outputs, tone controls, a loudness compensator, phase selection, speaker selection, recorder connectivity, and a numeric volume display.
