FiiO K17 R2R Desktop R2R Pro DAC & Headphone Amplifier

The FiiO K17 R2R brings together the natural, engaging character of R2R conversion with the convenience and flexibility of a modern digital audio hub. At its heart is FiiO’s proprietary 24+5-bit segmented R2R PRO resistor array, designed to minimize errors associated with conventional R2R architectures while delivering the smooth, natural and highly resolving character associated with R2R digital conversion.

The segmented architecture uses 31 thermometer-coded resistors for the upper five bits, helping reduce error accumulation and distortion for a cleaner and more accurate conversion process.

Powerful Fully Discrete Class AB Headphone Amplifier

The K17 R2R features a carefully engineered fully discrete headphone amplifier using an OP + transistor current amplification design and ON Semiconductor MJE243/253 transistors.

With up to 4000mW + 4000mW of balanced output power, the K17 R2R has the current capability to comfortably drive demanding full-size headphones while maintaining low output impedance and excellent control. Three headphone outputs are provided, including 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced and 4-pin XLR balanced connections.

Fully Balanced Audio Architecture

From the DAC stage through I/V conversion, low-pass filtering and the headphone amplifier, the K17 R2R uses a fully differential circuit architecture. This helps provide high dynamic range while reducing crosstalk.

High-quality Texas Instruments low-noise op-amps are used throughout critical portions of the audio circuit, while premium components including Rubycon, Nichicon, ELNA and WIMA capacitors are employed throughout the design.

Premium 35W Linear Power Supply

The K17 R2R incorporates a dedicated 35W low-noise linear power supply, featuring a custom low-noise transformer and five large 4700μF electrolytic capacitors for substantial power reserves.

Digital and analog circuits have separate power supplies to reduce interference, while multiple stages of regulation provide clean and stable power to the sensitive analog audio circuitry.

31-Band Lossless PEQ & AUTO EQ

The K17 R2R incorporates a powerful 31-band high-precision parametric EQ that operates without compromising audio quality.

Its DSP platform supports precise adjustment of frequency response, gain and Q values, while FiiO’s DEL (Dual Engine Limiter) technology enables additional dynamic range compression, expansion, limiter and compressor functions.

For users who don’t want to manually tune their headphones, AUTO EQ can automatically match headphones to a target frequency-response curve. Built-in presets are also available for music styles including Pop, Jazz and Classical.

PEQ settings can be saved, imported, exported and shared.

Three Ultra-Low-Phase-Noise Femtosecond Oscillators

The K17 R2R uses three ultra-low-phase-noise femtosecond crystal oscillators, including two ACCUSILICON AS318-L oscillators operating at 45.1584MHz and 49.1520MHz, along with a FiiO-customized 12MHz femtosecond oscillator.

This precision clocking architecture helps reduce phase noise and allows digital audio signals at different sampling rates to be reproduced with greater accuracy.

High-Performance Digital Processing

A dedicated M21586Q DSP provides 64-bit floating-point processing at up to 360MHz, supporting the K17 R2R’s advanced PEQ functionality and audio processing.

The digital architecture also incorporates an X2000 multi-core processor and ESP32-S3 system-on-chip for smooth operation and network connectivity.

Premium Natural Wood Design

The K17 R2R combines modern digital technology with natural materials. Its side panels are made from carefully selected natural wood, available in premium wood finishes including North American white ash and black walnut.

Because each panel is made from natural wood, the grain pattern of every K17 R2R is unique.

A large 3.93-inch touchscreen provides direct access to settings and functions, while five physical control knobs provide convenient access to volume, gain, output and other controls. An aluminum-alloy infrared remote is also included.

Flexible Connectivity

The K17 R2R provides extensive connectivity for use as the central component of a headphone or two-channel digital audio system.

Digital and network connectivity includes USB, optical, coaxial, Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi, while Bluetooth provides wireless audio connectivity.

Analog inputs and outputs allow the K17 R2R to integrate with both headphone systems and traditional stereo components.
