The Magnepan 3.6/R is a three-way, floorstanding planar dipole loudspeaker featuring a true ribbon tweeter, a planar-magnetic midrange driver, and a larger planar-magnetic bass driver. It has a tall, slender design with external crossover boxes and offers bi-wiring or bi-amplification options. The 3.6/R is known for its open, box-less sound, emotional honesty, and ability to reveal musical detail, but it requires good, powerful amplification to perform at its best.
Uses separate drivers for the treble, midrange, and bass.
A 55-inch long, free-standing ribbon that acts as both the driving element and the sound radiator.
Uses a 0.5-mil Mylar diaphragm with attached wire grids to reproduce the midrange and bass frequencies.
The crossover components for the bass and midrange are housed in separate, external boxes.
The speaker’s input plates are designed to allow for single-amplifier or dual-amplifier operation.
