Unrivaled Bass Depth with ATL™ and Laminair
At the heart of the ci140’s massive sound is PMC’s Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) technology. While most architectural speakers struggle to move enough air to create a true cinematic impact, the ci140 features a sophisticated internal labyrinth measuring an incredible 2.3 meters (7.5ft) in length. This allows the speaker to achieve a frequency response that flatlines down to 32Hz, delivering the kind of deep, chest-thumping bass usually reserved for massive freestanding cabinets.
To maintain absolute precision at high volume levels, the ci140 incorporates Laminair™ aerodynamic venting. By smoothing the airflow at the exit of the transmission line, this technology eliminates turbulence and air noise. The result is a low-frequency response that is remarkably fast, clean, and high-definition, allowing for the reproduction of complex low-end textures without the “smearing” common in traditional ported designs.
The 3-Way Driver Configuration
The ci140 utilizes a high-output 3-way design to ensure perfect tonal balance and immense dynamic headroom:
- Quad Bass Drivers: The system features four 5.25-inch (133mm) Natural Fibre LT™ long-throw drivers. This configuration provides the surface area of a much larger single woofer but with the speed and control of smaller cones, allowing for explosive transients and effortless scale.
- The Midrange: A 2-inch (50mm) PMC55 soft-dome midrange driver handles the critical vocal frequencies. This driver is renowned for its transparency, ensuring that dialogue and vocals are projected with lifelike clarity.
- The Tweeter: A 1-inch (27mm) soft-dome tweeter with a custom waveguide ensures wide, consistent dispersion, creating a massive sweet spot that covers every seat in the room.
Versatile Installation and Aesthetic Integration
Despite its commanding 1.4-meter (55-inch) height, the ci140 maintains a shallow 103mm (4-inch) depth, allowing it to be installed into standard wall cavities without structural modifications. Installation is streamlined by the patented Qikfire™ mounting system, which uses spring-loaded clamps to secure the speaker in seconds.
The ci140 is finished in a professional matte “Studio Black” and includes a bezel-less, micro-perforated magnetic grille. This white grille is fully paintable, allowing the speaker to blend into the room’s design while its performance remains undeniable. For installations where in-wall mounting is not possible, the optional On-Wall Kit (OWK) allows the ci140 to be mounted as a sleek, low-profile monitor.
