Purpose-Built WaveNET Architecture

At the heart of NET1 is Innuos’ WaveNET board, developed specifically for audio rather than adapted from conventional consumer or enterprise networking hardware.

WaveNET follows an ultra-low-noise design philosophy throughout its component selection and circuit layout. The objective is to minimize electrical interference and preserve network signal integrity before the digital stream reaches your music server or streamer.

The technology builds on the experience Innuos gained developing its highly regarded PhoenixNET, bringing that platform’s proven network and clock architecture into the new NET1.

Precision 3ppb OCXO Clock

NET1 incorporates a 3 parts-per-billion OCXO (Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator) clock.

In a digital audio system, timing stability is critical. The precision OCXO provides a highly stable timing reference for the network circuitry, helping NET1 maintain the accurate timing required for high-quality digital audio.

This clock architecture is one of the key technologies NET1 inherits from the PhoenixNET platform.

Four Dedicated Power Rails

WaveNET’s architecture incorporates four independently regulated and electrically isolated power rails, each dedicated to a critical section of the system.

The precision OCXO clock is isolated on its own supply, while the analogue PHY transceivers and digital Ethernet controller sections are separately powered. By preventing switching activity in one section from unnecessarily affecting another, Innuos aims to create a lower-noise electrical environment throughout the network board.

The result is a network switch designed to preserve timing accuracy, coherence, detail, and musical realism in demanding streaming systems.

A Natural Partner for STREAM1

NET1 was designed specifically to complement the Innuos STREAM1.

Its compact form factor allows it to integrate neatly with the STREAM1, creating a clean and cohesive front-end streaming system. The system can then be upgraded further with the Innuos LPS1 power supply, allowing the LPS1 to simultaneously power both the STREAM1 and NET1.

This gives customers a straightforward upgrade path: begin with the STREAM1 and NET1, then add the LPS1 as the system evolves.

Proven PhoenixNET Technology

The NET1 incorporates technology derived from Innuos’ now-discontinued PhoenixNET, a dedicated audiophile network switch that established Innuos as a specialist in low-noise network design.

Rather than treating the network as generic infrastructure, Innuos has engineered NET1 around the specific requirements of high-resolution digital audio, with particular attention paid to clocking, power delivery, and electrical noise.
