Advanced 10-Driver Hybrid Architecture

The MOONDROP DarkSaber brings together three different driver technologies in an ambitious 2DD + 8BA hybrid configuration.

Each earpiece combines MOONDROP’s horizontally opposed dual dynamic driver system with eight balanced armature drivers, creating a sophisticated multi-driver architecture designed to deliver powerful low frequencies, detailed midrange reproduction, and extended high-frequency performance.

The driver configuration consists of:

• 2 × 10mm dynamic drivers
• 4 × customized midrange balanced armature drivers
• 4 × Knowles SWFK tweeter balanced armature drivers

This carefully selected combination provides the foundation for DarkSaber’s highly resolving, full-range presentation.

Horizontally Opposed Dual Dynamic Drivers

At the heart of DarkSaber’s low-frequency system is MOONDROP’s Horizontally Opposed Dual Dynamic Drivers Unit System.

Two 10mm dynamic drivers work within the specialized configuration to provide the foundation for the IEM’s bass performance. This approach is designed to take advantage of the natural dynamic capabilities of large-format dynamic drivers while integrating them into a sophisticated hybrid architecture.

Four Customized Midrange Balanced Armatures

DarkSaber uses four customized midrange balanced armature drivers dedicated to reproducing the critical midrange frequencies.

By allocating dedicated drivers to the midrange, the design provides a substantial amount of driver capability for reproducing vocals, instruments, and other information throughout the heart of the musical spectrum.

Four Knowles SWFK Tweeter Balanced Armatures

For high-frequency reproduction, DarkSaber incorporates four Knowles SWFK tweeter balanced armature drivers.

The dedicated high-frequency driver array is designed to provide excellent extension and fine detail, contributing to the IEM’s exceptionally broad published frequency response of 7Hz–41kHz.

Wide-Bandwidth Performance

DarkSaber offers a stated frequency response range of 7Hz–41kHz, with an effective frequency range of 20Hz–20kHz (-3dB) according to MOONDROP’s published measurements.

This broad response capability gives DarkSaber the bandwidth required to reproduce the full audible range while providing additional extension beyond the conventional limits of human hearing.

Highly Sensitive and Easy to Drive

With a sensitivity of 128dB/Vrms at 1kHz and an impedance of 22Ω, DarkSaber is designed to achieve high output levels from a wide variety of suitable headphone sources.

It can be paired with portable digital audio players, DAC/amps, headphone amplifiers, and other high-quality audio sources.

Detachable 0.78mm 2-Pin Connection

DarkSaber uses a standard 0.78mm 2-pin detachable cable connection, providing flexibility for future cable replacement or upgrades.

The supplied cable terminates in a 3.5mm stereo single-ended plug, making it compatible with a wide range of conventional headphone outputs and portable audio equipment.
