The PMC ci30 represents a pinnacle of compact acoustic engineering, meticulously designed to bring the legendary “PMC sound” to spaces where traditional floorstanding or bookshelf speakers are impractical. As the most compact member of the ci (Custom Install) series, the ci30 is specifically engineered for high-performance architectural audio, serving as an ideal solution for luxury home theaters, professional immersive audio height channels (such as Dolby Atmos®), and high-fidelity multi-room audio systems.
Uncompromising Acoustic Technology
Despite its shallow depth and small footprint, the ci30 is a “true” PMC monitor. It utilizes the proprietary Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) technology, which is the cornerstone of all PMC designs. Unlike standard sealed or ported boxes, the ATL uses an internal labyrinth to guide air through the cabinet, absorbing unwanted high frequencies while reinforcing the lowest octaves. This allows the ci30 to produce a flat, remarkably deep bass response down to 47Hz, a feat rarely achieved by speakers of this size.
To ensure this bass remains clean and punchy, PMC has integrated Laminair™ airflow technology. Inspired by Formula 1 aerodynamics, these custom-designed vents reduce air turbulence at the exit of the transmission line, resulting in faster, higher-definition bass and an overall increase in the speaker’s dynamic range.
Precision Driver Array
The ci30 features a sophisticated 2-way driver configuration that ensures a seamless and transparent soundstage:
- The Woofer: A 5.25-inch (133mm) long-throw natural fiber cone driver provides the necessary excursion to move air efficiently, delivering the weight and impact required for cinematic soundtracks.
- The Tweeter: A 1-inch (27mm) soft-dome tweeter is mounted within a custom waveguide. This design ensures exceptionally wide dispersion, which is critical for architectural speakers, as it allows for a massive “sweet spot” that covers the entire listening area.
Versatile Installation and Aesthetics
The “ci” in the name stands for Custom Install, and the ci30 offers unparalleled flexibility for architects and interior designers. The speaker is designed for both In-Wall and On-Wall mounting.
- In-Wall: It fits into standard cavity walls with a mounting depth of only 103mm.
- On-Wall: When paired with the optional On-Wall Kit (OWK), the speaker becomes a sleek, shallow-profile monitor that complements modern flat-panel displays.
The speaker comes finished in a professional matte black, but it includes a white, bezel-less micro-perforated grille that is magnetically attached. This grille can be painted to match any interior decor, ensuring the speaker remains virtually invisible while providing world-class sound.
